A Pop-Up...Orchard?
At this point in fall, you've probably walked past dozens of sidewalk Halloween stores, all selling the same old prepackaged costumes and ghoulish masks. But if Richard Chai's awesomely icy temporary cave beneath the High Line is any indication, brands are getting a bit more creative with their pop-up shops as of late. Slightly less avant-garde, but certainly way more delicious, gourmet gift brand Harry & David collaborated with famed architecture firm The Rockwell Group to open 16 "Pop-Up Orchards" across the nation and give urban areas a more authentically autumnal experience—who woulda thunk such a thing existed? The New York "orchard," which grew on 5th Avenue last Friday, is the best place to complete your holiday shopping or get in the Halloween spirit, because, honestly, who doesn't love Moose Munch? Personalize your presents with their make-your-own-bento-box station and custom gifting station—so hands-on! Since pop-up shops are by nature just as transient as the seasons, make sure to visit the shop and load up on fancy wine, cheese, and delectable chocolate covered bing cherries to gift or self-gift—it's the season of indulgence, anyway—before time runs out. It's a swe-et option if dressing up isn't your thing. You know what they say—an apple a day....
