From the Editor: Yule-tide reflections

Posted in Fashion » Fashion Blog » Fashion Industry » Fashion Industry News BlogReclining in an antique wingbacked chair and looking out into a rose garden manicured to within an inch of its life I find myself somewhat jealous of our American readers. The leap between the setting and Americans is disparate I know, but let me explain. You see, I'm writing this from Lake House, a spa retreat nestled away in Victoria's country side, in the rush up to Christmas and New Year's Eve. And that's what makes me jealous of our American readers: the year comes to a close and in most parts of the world it's only Christmas and New Year's that we have to look forwards to - Americans can claim Thanksgiving amongst their celebrations. The rest of the world, myself included, meanwhile missing out on a day dedicated to giving thanks, to taking stock, simply hurtles towards the end of the year, unreasonable deadlines and all the stress that the season's trimmings add in tow, and seldom do we have a chance to reflect.

So here, amongst this tranquil setting with a lake before me and the sun baking my poor choice of a cashmere sweater, I feel the need to look back on 2010 and reflect. More so, I feel the need to look back at the past decade. A decade that gave me plenty of opportunities, that made me busier than I ever imagined, that gave birth to Fashionising.com and plunged our editors knee deep into the world of online fashion; a world so fast it is, perhaps, second only to the financial markets.
